LOVING REGRET (© April Hobart)
I once had an old man who waited for me
It was a sad story how it came to be
I never got to tell him just what he meant to me
But I know he felt the same
--As long as the wind blows through the trees
--Songbirds sing sweet melodies
--Carried away on a warm summer breeze
--That's how long that I'll love you
He whispered sweetness in my ear
And told me things I longed to hear
Well if it had not been for my loneliness and fear
I'd be with him still today
Well if he ever wants to rekindle the flame
All he's got to do is call my name
I'll run to him despite my shame
And how happy we two will be
