April Hobart is a talented vocalist from New England, and "Time To Travel" is her latest recording featuring an 11-song mixture of original and familiar tunes. The performances are an eclectic blending of bluegrass, country and blues, and April's sultry vocals are ideal for the material, which includes Jimmie Rodgers' "Any Old Time" and a stirring recreation of Lefty Frizzell's "Mom And Dad's Waltz." Her own numbers include "Stepping Stone," "The Green Blues," and the title song. The album closes with "Dad's Backstep" as April adds lyrics to the Stanley Brothers instrumental, "Clinch Mountain Backstep." Hobart is apparently well-established in the New England area, although "Time To Travel" illustrates that she certainly has the potential of reaching audiences elsewhere.
